Report: PL club said have made ‘important proposal’ to sign Spurs-linked right-back

Reports from Italy claim that Leicester City have now entered the race to sign rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Timothy Castagne.

Castagne was previously reported to be one of the right-backs on Jose Mourinho’s radar this summer (ESPN) and the Belgian international admitted that he would find difficult to turn down a move to Tottenham (La Derniere Heure in Belgium via TEAMtalk).

However, it now appears as if Spurs have decided to move for Matt Doherty instead, with reports indicating that it is only a matter of time before the Lilywhites announced the capture of the Wolves star (Football.London).

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Leicester are now in negotiations with Atalanta to sign Castagne and are expected to make an ‘important proposal’ shortly.

The report indicates that Castagne would be open to a move to the King Power Stadium as the right-back is attracted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that Leicester are considering Castagne as a potential replacement for Ben Chilwell as the Belgian has proved that he is equally adept at left-back as he is at right-back. With Spurs reportedly on the verge of snapping up Doherty, it is highly unlikely that we will make a move for Castagne this window. It will be interesting to see if we bring in another younger right-back option into the club once Aurier leaves or if Jose will be content to use Tanganga and Gedson as the backup options.
