Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a move for Ruslan Malinovskyi, a player who Tottenham Hotspur were linked with in the summer.
Malinovskyi currently plies his trade in Serie A with Atalanta, where he caught the eye of Spurs last season with ten goals and seven assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
The 29-year-old has not been quite as prolific this campaign, however, with just one goal and one assist to his name so far (Transfermarkt).
The Ukraine international was linked with Spurs all summer (TuttoMercatoWeb) but no such move materialised in the end as Atalanta president Antonio Percassi blocked the transfer (Fabrizio Romano).
Tutto Atalanta have since claimed that Malinovskyi will be allowed to leave the club in January, after the player has been unhappy with a lack of game time this season.
While it remains to be seen whether Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to make a move for Malinovskyi this time around, CalcioMercato report that newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest would be keen to snap the playmaker up.
West Ham are another club who are rumoured to be tracking Malinovskyi, but it is thought that Nottingham Forerst are the club most interested at this time. Whether Malinovskyi himself would be tempted to join the Premier League’s bottom side is another matter.
Forest already spent big in the summer and brought in over 20 new players, but Steve Cooper’s men are still struggling to adjust to life in the top flight. A player of Malinovskyi’s talent would be a boost, but perhaps may not be enough to save them from the drop.
Spurs Web Opinion
From what I’ve seen of Malinovskyi, he’s a really talented playmaker and when given the chance, creates plenty of opportunities for his teammates as well as being a great finisher himself. I’m not sure he is the best option Spurs have on their radar, so losing out to Forest in this instance wouldn’t be the end of the world, but hopefully we get to see him in the Premier League one way or another.
