Report: PL club set to slash asking price of player Spurs have their eye on

GiveMeSport have claimed that Manchester United could be about to slash their asking price for Tottenham target Harry Maguire as they aim to offload the centre-back ahead of the new season.

The report states that even though Man Utd have publicly declared that they want £50m for Maguire, there is an acceptance at the club that they are not going to be able to get that sort of fee for him.

It is alleged that the Red Devils are about to ‘become more active’ in finding the England international a new club, with intermediaries now having been asked to sound out potential suitors.

It is explained that the early expectations are that Maguire will not have any takers in the Premier League unless the player accepts a reduction to his current £200,000-a-week salary.

Tottenham are still monitoring Maguire situation

GiveMeSport state Spurs are keeping a close eye on the defender’s situation while West Ham United also monitoring the former Leicester City man.

The report adds that privately, some at Old Trafford state that the club would be willing to sell Maguire for £35m, with some sources said to believe even that number will be unachievable.

Spurs Web Opinion

It appears from the outside as if Maguire is not really pushing for a move and is content to fight for a place in the United starting eleven.

So, it seems quite unlikely that the centre-back would be open to a wage cut in order to seal a move to a club like Spurs.
