According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Aston Villa are in talks with Ezri Konsa over a new deal in an attempt to fend off Tottenham’s interest in the defender.
Konsa has been one of the standout central defenders in the Premier League this season, having formed a formidable partnership at the back with Tyrone Mings for Villa.
The Athletic reported last month that Spurs were eyeing a summer move for the Villa star as Jose Mourinho is keen on bolstering his options at centre-back.
The report claimed that Tottenham had previously explored the option of
signing Konsa from Brentford in 2019 when Toby Alderweireld’s £25m release clause became active but the Belgian ended up staying put at Spurs, with Konsa completing a move to Villa Park instead.
The Mirror now reports that Spurs and Liverpool could both attempt to snap up the 23-year-old from Villa this summer.
However, Dean Smith’s side are said to be aware of the two clubs’ interest and are planning on handing the centre-back a pay rise to bring him in line with some of Villa’s biggest earners.

Konsa grew up as a Tottenham fan and has previously admitted that a move to Spurs would be his dream move. So, we could have an advantage over Liverpool in the 23-year-old’s pursuit. However, he will likely be out of our price range should he put pen to paper on a new contract at Villa.
