Report: PL club want fee of over £50m for Tottenham target in January

90 min have revealed that Brighton will demand a substantial fee for rumoured Tottenham target Alexis Mac Allister in January.

Mac Allister had been one of Brighton’s most consistent performers over the last year and a half but the midfielder’s stock has risen considerably over the last two months as a result of his displays at the World Cup for Argentina.

L’Interista were the first to report at the start of this month that Tottenham were eyeing a move for the Brighton star, who was also said to be on the radars of Juventus and Inter Milan.

This was backed up CalcioMercatoWeb.it, who revealed a week later that Antonio Conte had been impressed by the 24-year-old even before he hit the limelight in Qatar.

The likes of Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in Mac Allister over recent weeks (AS) while La Repubblica revealed a couple of days ago that Liverpool had also entered the race for the midfielder, who was said to be valued by Brighton at £31m- £35m.

However, this has now been contradicted by 90 min, who state that the Seagulls will demand a fee in excess of £50m for the Argentine in January.

The report adds that the fee will be a huge stumbling block for Juventus, given the financial losses the Serie A giants have posted recently.

Spurs Web Opinion

Liverpool and Arsenal are perhaps the only clubs who would consider breaking the bank for Mac Allister in January as both clubs are likely to prioritise strengthening in central midfield. I cannot see Spurs shelling out big money on a midfielder in January, given the options Conte has at his disposal.
