Report: Premier League giants could challenge Spurs in pursuit of Chelsea’s Willian

Tottenham Hotspur may have to see off competition in the form of Manchester United if they want to secure the signature of Willian this summer, with The Daily Mail naming the Red Devils as potential suitors for the Chelsea star.

Spurs were once established as the favourites to land the 31-year-old, whose contract with the Blues runs out this summer (Mundo Deportivo).

Arsenal are also said to be pushing the Lilywhites for the experienced wide man’s signature this summer (Telegraph).

France Football suggested last week that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side were among the contenders for Willian.

The Daily Mail have reiterated that claim and suggest that United could be looking at the Chelsea winger as an alternative to Jadon Sancho, whose £100million asking price is said to be putting the club off.

While it is claimed that Willian has been offered to Man United, it is suggested that they are unlikely to push ahead with a move for the Brazilian as he does not fit the mould of the young, British player that Solksjaer is after.

Willian was on target last night when he scored from the spot to secure Chelsea with a 2-1 win against Manchester City.

Spurs Web Opinion

Like Vertonghen, Willian seems to be looking for the security of a long-term contract, which is the main reason he seems to want to leave Chelsea. He and his family both seem to be quite settled in London. Given that we need another wide option and the great relationship Jose has with the Brazilian, I believe we have a major advantage over some of our rivals in the chase for Willian.
