Report: PL rival enter race for starlet Spurs apparently compiled a dossier on last summer

According to a report in The Sunday Mirror (print edition – 18/12 pg. 68), Bournemouth have entered the race for Bristol City starlet Alex Scott, who was previously linked with a move to Tottenham.

Scott enjoyed a breakthrough season at Bristol in 2021-22, with the versatile midfielder, who has also been deployed as a right wing-back, managing six goal contributions in 38 Championship appearances last term (Transfermarkt).

Football Insider claimed back in May that Spurs were ‘compiling a dossier’ on the 19-year-old before deciding whether to push ahead with a formal offer for him while Alasdair Gold revealed at the time that the Tottenham hierarchy had discussed a move for the youngster (Football.London).

The teenager stayed put at Ashton Gate Stadium last summer, and he has carried on from where he left off so far this campaign, with four assists to his name so far in 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).

The Sunday Mirror now claims that another Premier League club in the form of Bournemouth have entered the race for Scott’s signature. The report adds that Gary O’Neil has identified the Bristol youngster as one of the Cherries’ top targets ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Tottenham studied Scott as a potential option for the right wing-back role prior to their acquisition of Djed Spence from Middlesbrough last summer. There has been nothing over the past few months to indicate that the Bristol academy graduate is still on the North London club’s radar.
