Report: PL star could transfer this summer amid Spurs and Aston Villa interest

The Daily Mail have revealed that Harvey Barnes is yet to open discussions with Leicester City regarding a new contract amidst interest from Tottenham.

Tottenham’s interest in Barnes first came to light last month when Football Insider reported that the North London club and Newcastle were both eyeing a summer move for the winger.

The Mail have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in the 25-year-old, claiming that the Lilywhites want to sign homegrown players this summer and have identified the Foxes star as a target.

The report adds that Tottenham could face competition from Aston Villa for Barnes’ signature, with the Villans also said to be ‘watching developments closely’

The England international has two years left on his contract at the King Power Stadium and it is revealed that there has been no progress on a new deal.

The Mail add that Leicester might be forced to cash in on Barnes, irrespective of whether they stay up as they are planning to overhaul their squad this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Tottenham are in need of reinforcements to their frontline and Barnes would tick a lot of boxes, given his age and the fact that he is homegrown.

I also believe that the 25-year-old is capable of taking his game up another level or two if he is surrounded by better players.
