Report: PL star linked with Spurs will be allowed to leave on a free this year

According to talkSPORT, Adama Traore will not be sold by Wolverhampton Wanderers this month despite the reported Tottenham Hotspur target only having six months left on his current contract.

Traore’s contract expires in the summer (Transfermarkt) and there are no signs of the player extending his stay with the Midlands club. With this in mind, Wolves have until the end of the month to sell the 27-year-old or they will lose him for nothing come the end of the season.

Apparently, Spurs were keen on signing Traore last January, and have rekindled their interest again this time around (TEAMtalk). They face competition from Leeds United though, with Sporting Director Victor Orta reportedly a big fan of the Spanish winger.

Over the weekend, it was claimed that Traore was more interested in a move to Serie A sides Napoli or Atalanta than remaining in the Premier League with Spurs (90 Min) and has already held talks with both clubs about a prospective move.

The thinking is, Traore would rather play as a winger, while Antonio Conte is thought to want to convert him to play at right wing-back too.

Now, the latest from talkSPORT suggests Traore will have to wait until the summer to go anywhere, as Wolves are not willing to lose him in the middle of the season. Turns out, Wolves would rather lose him for nothing than try to get some money for him during this window.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’ve never really been convinced that Adama Traore would be worth signing for us. He is very quick and strong, but his attacking output is poor and he just seems to run fast and then produce nothing at the end of it. If Wolves want to keep him, so be it, but I wouldn’t even take him on a free personally.
