Report: Player and agent have are unaware of Spurs’ interest; wants to stay at current club

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel and his agent are completely unaware of reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur in his services, according to German football journalist Kerry Hau.

The Telegraph reported earlier on Friday that Tottenham were going to use their upcoming meeting with Bayern officials as an opportunity to discuss a deal for 28-year-old Tel.

The Bundesliga giants are set to meet with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy early next week as part of their intent to try to get a deal over the line to bring Harry Kane to the Allianz Arena ahead of the new season.

Tel is considered one of the brightest prospects in the Bundesliga and managed to score five league goals in 22 appearances for the German champions last season (transfermarkt).

Bayern are keen to secure a move for Kane before Tottenham’s next pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6th.

Christian Falk recently wrote in an article for CaughtOffside: “Bayern Munich are working hard on the transfer of Harry Kane.

“The club are still very positive about the deal and are hopeful the Englishman played his last match for Tottenham against LC Sailors.

“They would like to complete the deal before Spurs’ next match against Shakhtar Donetsk on 6 August in London.”

Mathys Tel wants to stay at Bayern Munich

Despite what happens with Harry Kane’s future during the talks between the two clubs, Tel is said to want to remain in Bavaria rather than look to move elsewhere.

Hau wrote on Twitter in response to the reports: “Mathys Tel and his agent are unaware of Tottenham Hotspur’s interest. There is no contact with the English regarding a change.

“Nothing has changed in Tel’s position either: he wants to stay at Bayern – whether Harry Kane comes or not.”

Next week should be pivotal in deciding the course of Harry Kane’s future ahead of the season and a decision has to be made sooner rather than later, otherwise it is going to overshadow Ange Postecoglou’s preparations for the Premier League opener at Brentford.
