Report: Player aware of Spurs interest, yet club may look elsewhere in transfer market

Tottenham Hotspur may decide against moving for Joachim Andersen this summer, according to The Sun.

The report claims that Lyon are demanding £26million for the Danish international and the player is aware of Tottenham’s interest, however, the North Londoners may now decide to look elsewhere to bolster their central defensive options.

Football.London previously reported that Spurs are in the market for a defender this summer with leadership qualities.

Andersen made 29 league appearances for the Cottagers on loan, scoring one goal and captaining Scott Parker’s side but was unable to help them avoid relegation back to the Championship (transfermarkt).

Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Sevilla’s Joules Kounde (Gianluca Di Marzio), however the Frenchman is said to have rejected the opportunity to make the switch to N17 (Marca).

There are question marks over the respective futures of Toby Alderweireld, who has reportedly told the club he wants to leave this summer, while Davinson Sanchez was mentioned as a potential makeweight in a deal for Kounde.

SpursWeb Opinion

Tottenham need to stop playing the market and look to get a new defender in before the end of the month to give the player time to adjust to his new surroundings and defensive partner.

We experienced last season under Jose Mourinho that chopping and changing the pairing on a regular basis caused a lack of assurance at the heart of the back four and led to a number of individual errors.
