There was plenty of excitement at Spurs back in 2019 when the club secured Sessegnon’s services from Fulham, with the left-back arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a reputation as one of the best young players in the Premier League in his position.

While he did show some promise during some phases at the North London side, his five-year stay at Hotspur Way has been blighted by constant injury troubles.

Sessegnon’s Tottenham nightmare has now officially come to an end, with the Lilywhites choosing against taking up the one-year option to extend his contract and allowing him to leave the club as a free agent.

Return to Fulham on the cards for Ryan Sessegnon

The Athletic have now said that Sessegnon could return to Craven Cottage this summer, five years on from swapping the West London club for Tottenham.

The report says that Fulham are keen to offer competition to Antonee Robinson at left-back and have set their sights on their academy graduate.

However, it is explained that while Marco Silva’s men have discussed a move for the 24-year-old, the discussions are only at a preliminary stage, with the club being cautious about the player’s fitness issues.

Given that Sessegnon is a free agent, one would expect a couple of Premier League sides to be willing to take a punt on the youngsters as the upsides are potentially quite high. However, teams will perhaps be hesitant to offer the left-back a long-term contract until he can prove his fitness.
