Report: Player heavily linked with Spurs may now have a future at his current club

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Dani Ceballos for a large part of the summer transfer window (The Sun).

The midfielder’s future at Real Madrid had looked to be over after AS claimed that Zinedine Zidane and Ceballos had somewhat of a blunt exchange after the Frenchman was said to have told him that he did not feature in his plans for the upcoming season.

Marca are now reporting that Ceballos may now have a future at the Bernabeu.

His impressive performances for Spain in their Under-21 European Championship winning side this summer together with the fact that a deal for Paul Pogba is looking ever increasingly unlikely could meant that the 22-year-old is given another season to prove his worth.

The report claims that Ceballos’ relationship with Zidane is currently not the best and is something which will have to be addressed ahead of the new campaign.

Last season the former Real Betis player made just three appearances for the Spanish giants following Zidane’s return as manager in March (AS).

Opinion

If Ceballos has a future at Madrid, it remains to be seen whether they will look to make a move for Christian Eriksen.

Given the Dane’s impact in North London over the past few seasons, I would happily see him sign a new contract and remain at the club rather than us signing Ceballos and Erikse heading to Madrid.
