Report: Player is happy after escaping ‘million-dollar prison’ at Spurs on loan

Las Provincias have suggested that Tottenham blocked Bryan Gil’s loan move to Valencia last summer against the winger’s wishes.

Gil impressed during his loan spell at the Mestlla during the second half of last season but found game time difficult to come by on his return to Tottenham.

The winger has once again showcased his quality since returning to Sevilla on loan in January, with his recent performances earning him a recall to the Spain squad during last month’s international break.

Ahead of Sevilla’s clash against Valencia on Sunday, Las Provincias looked into what might have been for Los Che and discuss the possibility that the on-loan Tottenham man could have actually been lining up for the other side.

It is explained that Valencia wanted to extend Gil’s loan stay last summer, with the player being the La Liga club’s great ‘desire’ during the transfer window

However, Spurs blocked the move in the final days of the window, which resulted in the 22-year-old being kept in a ‘multi-million dollar prison’ at the North London club in the first half of the season.

The publication suggests that Gil is happier since his return to Seville, with his time at the Andalusian club proving ‘fruitful’ so far.

Gil might prefer to remain on loan at Sevilla next season as well rather than warming the bench at Spurs.

However, I wonder if Tottenham’s new managerial appointment could influence the 22-year-old’s decision, with the winger perhaps wanting to see if he can win his new boss over.
