Report: Player is keen on leaving Tottenham soon amidst club’s interest in him

La Stampa have claimed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants to swap Tottenham Hotspur for Juventus next month despite the North London club’s reluctance to sell him.

It does not appear as if Juventus are willing to give up on Hojbjerg without a fight, with Calciomercato reporting a few days ago that the Serie A giants had restarted contacts with the Dane’s entourage.

The report claimed that the 28-year-old remains ‘a live option more than ever’ for Juve, with the Italian club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and manager Massimiliano Allegri said to be big fans of the player.

The outlet explained that Spurs are not open to a sale at the moment as they consider the former Southampton man to be an ‘important player’.

Hojbjerg wants move from Spurs to Juventus

La Stampa have now revealed that Hojbjerg himself has a ‘desire to leave’ the Premier League side when the transfer window opens.

According to the report, Juve believe that the midfielder could be available for a ‘bargain’ and that Tottenham’s request would be ‘moderate’, given that he only has 18 months left to run on his deal.

However, the publication adds that Spurs are not willing to allow Hojbjerg to leave on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy, which is the formula that the Bianconeri prefer.

La Stampa also asserts that Ange Postecolgou ‘could veto’ the Denmark international’s transfer, given Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hojbjerg was keen to leave back in the summer and it is unlikely that he would have changed his mind, with the 28-year-old likely to want regular game time.

However, I do not think Ange will green-light his sale unless Spurs bring another midfielder through the door in January, particularly given that Bissouma and Sarr would be missing during AFCON.
