Report: Player is willing to take a wage cut to seal move away from Spurs

TuttoMercatoWeb has claimed that Giovani Lo Celso is willing to take a wage cut to complete a switch to Napoli.

We recently relayed reports from several Italian outlets, including Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), which suggested that even though Napoli wish to sign Lo Celso, the Tottenham star’s current salary might scupper any chances of a deal.

It was explained that the Serie A champions might not be able to match the €4.2m (£3.6m) per year that the midfielder currently earns at the North London club.

Lo Celso willing to lower his salary to seal Spurs exit

If TMW’s latest update is to be believed, the Tottenham man is ready to accept a lower wage in order to seal a switch to Naples.

The report states that the Partenopei have identified Lo Celso as their top midfield target this summer, with the 27-year-old described as the Italian club’s ‘great goal’ of the transfer window.

It is explained that Napoli are pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy while Spurs are insisting on any loan deal coming with an obligatory purchase option.

The report adds that the Serie A side are facing competition from the likes of Aston Villa, Real Betis and Barcelona for Lo Celso.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will look to get a bidding war going for Lo Celso if they do choose to cash in on the Argentine but ultimately, the player will also have a big say on where he ends up.

It remains to be seen if the midfielder would prefer to return to La Liga or would be open to a new adventure in Naples.
