Report: Player left heartbroken after Spurs deal collapses at the last minute

Kim-min Jae is reported to have been left heartbroken that a move to Tottenham Hotspur failed to materialise this summer, according to South Korean news outlet Naver.

The article was summarised on Twitter by South Korean football commentator Hyung Seo.

The Beijing Guoan central defender was rumoured to be close to completing a move to Spurs in August (Sports.news.naver via TEAMtalk) only for a switch to fail to materialise.

The report by Naver claims that the 23-year-old’s agent has revealed that he was closing in on a switch to North London before the end of September, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute.

The deal is rumoured to have been halted due to the homegrown rule which saw Spurs unable to offload a current non-qualifying player within their squad in time to make room for Kim-min Jae.

Both sides are said to had already agreed the terms of the transfer which has left the defender disappointed at the failed move, but could see Spurs make a further approach in the winter window.
