Report: Player left ‘hurt’ by club’s decision to sell him to Tottenham

Emerson Royal is reported to be hurt by Barcelona’s decision to sell him, according to Radio Marca.

The report claims that the Brazilian international wanted to remain with the Catalan giants, who have instead agreed to sell him to Tottenham Hotspur.

Emerson is currently undergoing a medical in Barcelona ahead of his move to Tottenham in a deal worth €30m (£25.7m), while personal terms have been agreed (Sky Sports – 31/08 at 09:25).

The 22-year-old spent the past two years on loan at Real Betis, helping the La Liga outfit to qualify for the Europa League last season.

Emerson is naturally upset, having spent the last two years on loan at Betis and having started all three of Barcelona’s La Liga matches this season. Spurs fans should not take this in a negative manner, considering he has worked hard to prove himself at Betis to secure a place in Barca’s side.

The financial strain which the Catalan club are currently under is proving to show that they need the finances to help balance the books.
