Report: Player linked with Spurs completes medical at La Liga side instead

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Franck Kessie is set to become a Barcelona player in the summer after completing a medical with the La Liga side ahead of his move.

Kessie’s contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer and MilanNews reported last month that Tottenham are currently the front-runners to sign the midfielder, having made the ‘most concrete offer’ for the player.

However, Barcelona were also thought to be hot on the Milan star’s trail amidst his contract situation (Gianluigi Longari).

TuttoMercatoWeb reported last week that Spurs had pulled out of the race for the 25-year-old after listening to his contract demands.

If Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, Barca have now won the race for Kessie’s signature. The report explains that the Ivory Coast international completed his medical over recent days and has agreed on personal terms with the Catalan giants.

It is said that the midfielder will sign a four-year contract worth €7m (£5.8m) per season with Barca, with all formalities now ‘completed’.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is disappointing as I was desperate for us to land Kessie, given that he seems like a perfect fit for Conte’s system and the Premier League.

However, the fact that we have seemingly allowed the 25-year-old to join Barca without a fight, suggests that Conte and Partici were not 100 per cent convinced about the midfielder.

It will be interesting to see who we go for this summer as a number eight would be a priority, with Ndombele and Lo Celso seemingly having no future at Spurs.
