Report: Player linked with Spurs has ‘bags packed’ after falling out with manager

According to a report in Corriere Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino is keen to leave the Italian club this month and likes the idea of moving to Spurs.

It is claimed that there is still a chance that the Uruguay international could be included as a part of the Christian Eriksen deal.

Vecino is said to have had a misunderstanding with manager Antonio Conte on Monday after telling the club’s medical staff that a calf problem would see him be unavailable for their next match before heading home from training without informing Conte.

The former Chelsea boss reportedly told Vecino to report back to the training ground and then sent him back home which has only increased his chances of leaving with the paper stating that he has ‘got his bags packed’.

Corriere Dello Sport – 17/1/2020

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claimed earlier this week that Tottenham were close to reaching an agreement with Inter Milan to sign Matias Vecino.

The 28-year-old, who has been a regular fixture in the Inter midfield for the past couple of seasons, has made 14 appearances in Serie A for Antonio Conte’s side during the current campaign (transfermarkt).

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Vecino doesn’t have the best of relationships with Inter coach Antonio Conte.

He is said to be keen on a move to the Lilywhites this month but it is suggested that there have been no discussions so far between Inter and Spurs regarding the midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

With the arrival of Gedson Fernandes, I believe we have enough options in central midfield for now. Vecino, like Fernandes, prefers playing in a deep-lying midfielder role and so I don’t expect the club to move for him given we also have the likes of Winks, Dier and Ndombele. I believe signing a striker and a full-back should be a priority this month.
