Report: Player not keen on Tottenham move – Levy unwilling to exceed first offer

According to a report in today’s print edition from Portuguese newspaper, Record, Porto winger Luis Diaz is not entirely keen on securing a potential move to Tottenham.

SIC Noticias journalist Pedro Sepulveda reported yesterday that Tottenham made a €45m (£37.6m) bid plus bonuses for the Colombian winger, who has been in electric form this season.

Spurs have since been told to up their bid if they wish to secure Diaz, who has a release clause worth £66m (The Guardian).

However, Record have now revealed that Diaz is not convinced of a possible transfer to Spurs, with a move said to be ‘not tempting enough’.

The report states the 25-year-old is confident that he can secure a more lucrative move in the summer which could put a potential move to Spurs this month on the back-burner.

It also suggests that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy does not intend on exceeding the opening offer submitted yesterday, which plunges the likelihood of a transfer materialising into doubt.

Diaz has been in immense form for Porto this season and will rightly command a large transfer fee. With a few days remaining, it is tough to see how this move will be completed, given that Spurs are well below Porto’s likely asking price and the player’s release clause.
