Report: Player ready to fight for Spurs future after change of heart

According to L’Equipe (as relayed by GFFN), Tanguy Ndombele has decided to stay and try to turn his Tottenham Hotspur career around after taking steps to mend his relationship with Jose Mourinho.

The midfielder had an extremely disappointing first-season in the Premier League after Spurs shattered their transfer record to sign him last summer and it was previously reported that he and Mourinho had fallen out (Athletic).

However, L’Equipe now claim that Ndombele and the Spurs head coach had a meeting after returning from holiday to clear the air.

The report suggests that Mourinho was initially open to the idea of using Ndombele in a swap deal to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan but Daniel Levy did not wish to let the Frenchman leave.

It is said that the Spurs chairman mediated talks between Mourinho and the former Lyon player to help mend their relationship.

While Ndombele was initially said to have been determined to leave, he has now had change of heart.

It is claimed that the midfielder does not wish to become a flop at Tottenham and believes he is capable of having a much bigger impact this season due to his greater understanding of the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jose has praised Ndombele for his attitude a couple of times over the last few weeks, which suggests that the midfielder has been working hard in training. The fact that L’Equipe are reporting this suggests that this information has likely come from Ndombele’s camp, which is a big plus. Hopefully, the midfielder can build on his performance on Thursday and prove why he was sought after by some of the biggest clubs in Europe a year ago.
