Report: Player regrets joining Tottenham and wants a transfer to Serie A

Ivan Perisic is thought to regret joining Tottenham Hotspur last summer, and will be looking to return to Inter Milan in the next transfer window.

The Croatian star arrived on a free transfer early on in the summer of 2022 after his contract with Inter Milan came to an end.

Perisic was able to reunite with Antonio Conte, but things have not gone to plan for either at Tottenham.

In a disappointing season, Perisic’s return of one goal and 12 assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt) is fairly adequate.

However, more was expected when the 34-year-old first joined the club.

With Conte now gone, and a huge rebuild required at Tottenham this summer, there is thought to be an opportunity for Perisic to reverse his fortunes and go back to Inter Milan (Inter Live).

A report from Football.London recently claimed the experienced wing-back would be heading for the ‘exit door’ at the end of the current season.

Now, the latest from CalcioMercato suggests Perisic has already laid the foundations for the move back to Inter after discussions with the club’s director and some of his former teammates.

His year in England is described as a “total fiasco.” It is believed the player has a “desire to say goodbye to London” and “pushes to wear the Nerazzurri shirt” once more.

Apparently, Perisic has even “talked about it with [Beppe] Marotta,” the director at Inter Milan and has “maintained relations” with his former teammates in Italy.

However, there is expected to be a “spending review” at Inter this summer, and the word is that players over the age of 30 will not be renewed. With this in mind, there are doubts as to whether the club would “embrace Perisic again.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Perisic staying with us this summer, but it does sound like Inter may have their doubts about re-signing him.

Unless he decides to join another club, he may end up being stuck with Spurs whether he likes it or not.
