Report: Player rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar now available for £23m

Atalanta goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, will be available this summer for around £23 million, according to reports in Italy.

While Atalanta have been hailed for their flair and attacking quality this season, they have also been impressive in keeping teams out at the other hand, thanks in part to Gollini’s performances between the sticks.

The shot-stopper, who was previously on the books of Aston Villa, has since been linked with a return to England.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed last month that Tottenham had identified the 25-year-old as an ideal choice to bring in as Hugo Lloris’ long-term successor. The report noted that Spurs did not want to spend big on a goalkeeper.

However, the Italian international has since insisted that he is happy to stay at the Serie A club for the time being.

Despite this, if the latest report from Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed, Atalanta may look to cash in on him if they receive an offer of around £23 million this summer.

It is said that the Serie A side are prepared to move Gollini on and replace him with Genoa stopper, Mattia Perin.

Spurs Web Opinion

While it is possible that we were eyeing up a long-term replacement for Lloris this summer, I would be extremely surprised if the club hadn’t reconsidered their decision after the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will likely have to be wise with how we spend our limited transfer budget this summer and I cannot see us spending a considerable amount on bringing in a potential first-choice goalkeeper.
