Report: Player wanted by Paratici at Spurs is now Juventus’ number-one target

Tuttosport have claimed that Juventus are prioritising a move for alleged Tottenham target Nicolo Zanolo in January.

Spurs’ efforts to sign Zaniolo in the summer were rebuffed by Roma (Wettfreunde) but TuttoMercatoWeb reported last week that the North London club were continuing to monitor the 23-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

The report stated that Antonio Conte’s men were the front-runners for the winger’s signature ahead of Juventus but also asserted that Roma had not given up hope of tying the player down to a new contract.

Tuttosport have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in Zaniolo, remarking that Fabio Paratici ‘never misses an opportunity’ to talk about the Italy international Roma director Tiago Pinto.

However, it is said that the attacker is ‘loved’ by Juve and remains the ‘number one target’ for Massimiliano Allegri’s men in January.

TuttoSport add that ‘everything will depend on’ Zaniolo’s contract negotiations with the Giallorossi, with the talks said to be ‘frozen’ for the moment and expected to be resumed during January.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Zaniolo does become available in January, one would certainly expect Spurs to test the waters for the attacker, given that Conte and Paratici both seem to be fans of the Roma star.

We will likely be able to out-bid Juventus and potentially even offer the player a better salary package than the Serie A giants. However, Zaniolo is at a crucial stage in his career and he might prefer to remain in Serie A rather than taking a risk by moving to the Premier League.
