Report: Player wanted by Tottenham is ‘
hell-bent’ on remaining at his club

The Daily Record have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target, Borna Barisic has decided to stay with Rangers next season.

The left-back has enjoyed a couple of impressive seasons since arriving at the Ibrox in 2018 and is now first-choice at left-back for the Croatian national side.

The 27-year-old has become a key part of Steven Gerrard’s side, providing two goals and registering eight assists in 22 league appearances this season (transfermarkt.com).

90 min reported back in March that Spurs were eyeing Barisic as a replacement for Danny Rose, with the defender reportedly valued at £22million.

The Daily Record now claims that Barisic is hell-bent on staying at Rangers and has decided that he will not move anywhere, despite interest from the Premier League.

Despite Rangers failing to stop Celtic from marching to their 10th Scottish Premier League title in a row, it is said that the left-back is happy and wants to stay at least until the Euros next summer.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be in the market for a left-back this summer, with reports indicating that Jose Mourinho is happy to have Dennis Cirkin as Ben Davies’ main understudy (Guardian).

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by reports, signing a right-back, a centre-back, a defensive midfielder and a backup striker looks to be our main priority this summer. Given that we have a limited budget to work with, I do not expect to see us sign a left-back. With the hybrid back four/back three system that we play, we do not need a left-back to constantly provide the width. We essentially need a left-sided centre-back and Tanganga has shown he can deputise in the position, given the defensive requirements of the role.
