24Sata report that former Tottenham winger, Ivan Perisic, has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona at the end of the summer transfer window.
Ivan Perisic only left Spurs in January
Perisic played his last game for Tottenham in September of last year, just before suffering an ACL injury, which put him out of action for a lengthy time.
The wing-back joined Hajduk Split initially on loan during the January window before making the move permanent earlier this summer when his contract with Spurs ran out.
However, it emerged on Tuesday that the Croat could be about to leave Hajduk ahead of the new season, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that an exit is on the cards in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
Move to Barca for Ivan Perisic?
It has now been reported by 24Sata that the reason Perisic wants to leave Hajduk is because Barcelona have expressed an interest in the winger.
The report describes the Catalan giants’ interest in the 35-year-old as ‘genuine’, adding that the player has already told his club about his intention to leave.
It is pointed out that Hansi Flick, who has previously worked with Perisic at Bayern Munich, is the man driving Barca’s interest in the wide-man.
Flick allegedly wants to bring the former Spurs man through the door so that he can mentor young attackers such as Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati.

One can see why Perisic would be attracted by a move to Barca as he might view it as one final swansong before he hangs up his boots, with the winger potentially having no more than a couple of years left in him at the highest level.
