Report: Player’s agent admits he is talking to English clubs amidst Spurs links

Austrian publication Spox have revealed that Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing Sassuolo right-back, Mert Muldur.

Muldur’s reputation has blossomed since he arrived in Italian football from Rapid Wein back in the summer of 2019.

The 22-year-old, who has also demonstrated that he can do a competent job in the central defence, has made 28 Serie A appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this season.

If the Turkish international’s agent is to be believed, the Sassuolo star’s performances have caught the attention of many clubs in Italy and Europe.

Spurs are likely to be in the market for a right-back this summer, with sources from France backing Serge Aurier to return to Paris Saint-Germain.

Matt Doherty has had a disappointing first season at the club and it is unclear as to whether the Republic of Ireland international has a future at the North London club.

If Spox are to be believed, Muldur is one of the options on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the transfer window.

However, the defender’s agent Max Hagmayr has made it clear that while he is in contact with other clubs, his client is likely to continue his development at Sassuolo.

Spox relays Kronen Zeitung, who quote Hadmayr as saying: “There are always talks with top clubs in Italy and England.

“However, it always failed because of the transfer fee. A transfer is currently not an issue.

“He feels very much at home [at Sassuolo]. There is a very good defensive development with him.

“Nowhere else can you improve defensively and tactically as you do in Italy.”
