Report: Player’s relationship with Mourinho has improved but not with Levy

The Athletic have delivered an update on Danny Rose’s future and the various options available to him ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is said that Jose Mourinho and Rose have made some progress in their relationship after rumours of a falling out between the pair before the left-back departed to Newcastle on loan in January (Daily Mail).

The Athletic claim that the Spurs boss has in contact with Rose, via text message and the pair’s communication has been cordial.

However, it is suggested that the England international’s relationship with Daniel Levy still remains strained.

The report reveals that both Rose, as well as Spurs, hope that a buyer can be found for the experienced defender this summer.

It is claimed that Spurs are willing to accept a nominal fee for Rose, who only has a year to run on his contract in North London.

Steve Bruce is said to be keen on bringing the 30-year-old to the North East permanently but Newcastle will reportedly not discuss any deal before they get more clarity on the takeover talks.

The report also asserts that Rose will not be pressured into leaving Tottenham if a suitable offer comes along since he knows it is likely to be the last big contract of his career.

Spurs Web Opinion

Rose has been in very good form since the restart and is showing signs of returning to his former self. At 30 years of age, he should at least have another good two or three years at the top level if he focuses on his football.

I can see the likes of Leicester or Everton eyeing Rose if they lose Ben Chilwell or Lucas Digne respectively. However, since the defender only has a year left on his deal, Spurs won’t have much power in determining his next destination.
