Report: Playmaker receives identical offers from Spurs and one other – who does he prefer?

Tottenham Hotspur may be forced to dip into the transfer market for a new playmaker this summer, as Christian Eriksen’s six-year stay in North London could be coming to an end.

The Great Dane has been a permanent fixture in the Spurs XI since joining from Ajax and has been a favourite under Pochettino for the last five years.

However, the midfield man has just a year left on his current contract at Spurs, and after his recent comments, Tottenham may have no choice but to sell up.

Eriksen told the Danish press that he is ready to find a new challenge and a step up from Tottenham (Ekstra Bladet).

One man who could be set to replace Eriksen is Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, with the Daily Star reporting that Spurs were leading the race for him earlier this month.

The Metro claim that Sporting want £62m for Fernandes, with Tottenham and Man United both interested, although neither has met the asking price.

The report adds that the two Prem clubs have submitted identical personal terms to the player, but the 24-year-old prefers a move to Man United,
