Report: Pochettino almost made this player his first ever Spurs signing

Tottenham Hotspur have not signed a new player in over a year, but will surely be eyeing up some moves for the summer, especially with the futures of some of their stars up in the air.

The likes of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld may not be at the club this time next season, and Tottenham will have to invest smart in the transfer window to replace them.

The player Pochettino may line up to cover Toby’s vacant position is actually the man he almost brought in as his first ever Spurs signing five years ago.

Poch has been a long-term admirer of Swiss defender Fabian Schar, however, Tottenham ended up going for Federico Fazio instead (Star).

Schar has now ended up a Newcastle after moving for a fee of just £3m last summer, and has impressed for the Prem side with both clean sheets and a long-range eye for goal.

Should Spurs go back in for him? The Mirror say they are interested.
