Report: Pochettino could plot double Spurs raid if he takes Barcelona job

The Sun have claimed that Barcelona may target a double swoop for Harry Kane and Giovani Lo Celso if Mauricio Pochettino takes over as the club’s new manager.

The former Spurs boss is being linked with the Barca hot seat, with AS indicating that he is their Plan B if Xavi Hernandez does not take the job.

The Evening Standard has even established the 48-year-old as the most likely man to replace Quique Setien, although they suggest that he might face an uncertain future at the club with the presidential elections scheduled for next year.

The Sun now claims that the Catalan giants could undertake a massive rebuild this summer and that the Argentine could raid his former club.

It is suggested that the former Spurs boss would want the England captain to replace an ageing Luis Suarez, while he would want Lo Celso to add spark to the midfield.

It is revealed that the La Liga giants have made attempts to sign both Kane and Lo Celso in the past and could be emboldened to try again with Pochettino at the helm.

As is often the case with The Sun, this report does not have any basis in reality. Even if Pochettino takes the Barcelona job, he will have very little money to spend this summer due to their financial situation. To suggest that they can afford moves for Kane or Lo Celso suggests that they have done zero research before printing the story.
