Report: Pochettino could try to sign England man wanted by Spurs

Reports indicate that Arsenal are set to make a second offer for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Ben White after seeing their first offer for the centre-back turned down by Brighton, while Pochettino and PSG are also interested.

White rose to prominence with his impressive performances during his loan spell at Leeds United in the 2019/20 season.

The youngster did not look out of place in the Premier League last campaign and his consistent displays for Graham Potter’s side have seen the defender being rewarded with a place in the England squad for the European Championships.

White was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during last summer’s transfer window as well as during the January window.

It was reported last week that Spurs were one of several Premier League clubs who were contemplating a move for the 23-year-old, with their North London rivals Arsenal also interested.

It looks as though the Gunners have made their first move, with The Daily Mirror now revealing that Brighton rejected an offer of around £40m from Mikel Arteta’s side for White.

The report claims that the Seagulls are only willing to consider offers in excess of £50m for the centre-back and add that former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino could try and take White to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Football.London suggest that Arsenal are expected to return with a second offer for the England international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ben White would be perfect for us given that he is homegrown, has a high ceiling, proven in the Premier League and is comfortable playing at left-centre-back. However, I cannot see us vying for his signature if he is rated at £50m.
