Report: Pochettino has already turned down three signings this summer

Tottenham Hotspur made a great start to the transfer window by shattering their record fee to bring in midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon. They also signed Jack Clarke from Leeds United before sending him back on loan to the Championship club for next season (BBC).

However, since then, not a single player has walked in through the door at the club, with the Premier League season just over a week away.

When Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the club’s transfer targets recently, he pleaded ignorance and suggested that the club needed to change his title as he had little to do with transfers (The Guardian).

Now, a report in the Daily Mail claims that the Argentine has rejected at least three players there were presented to him by the club. It is suggested that Pochettino instead wanted the club to pursue the targets he had identified.

The report claims that the deals for Giovani Lo Celso as well as Bruno Fernandes have already been given the green light by the Spurs boss.

Pochettino spoke at length in the summer about how the club needed to change the way they operate in the transfer window, and so it is understandable why he only wants to add players who will improve the team. Given the level the Tottenham squad is at right now, Spurs have to be willing to spend considerably if they want to improve.
