Report: Pochettino hints that this midfielder will start against Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur are just one day away from the biggest night in the club’s history, and no one will know that more than lifelong fan and academy graduate Harry Winks.

Spurs are set to face off against fellow Premier League side Liverpool tomorrow night in Madrid, with the Champions of Europe crown on the line.

Winks only underwent surgery on his groin a few weeks ago (Tottenham), but has battled hard to be back in time to help his side win their first trophy in over a decade.

Winks returned to training over a week ago now (Independent), and The Sun now believe that Pochettino has dropped a major hint he will start in Madrid.

Poch has chosen captain Hugo Lloris and Harry Winks to join him in the pre-match press conference tonight.

The Sun report that UEFA urge clubs to only include players who are likely to play in these types of conferences.

Spurs Web Opinion:

By this logic, Moussa Sissoko could also be in line to start tomorrow’s match, as he was included in the press conference a few days ago. If The Sun are correct, we can infer that Winks and Sissoko will start together in a two-man central midfield, Pochettino’s strongest pair. I am absolutely thrilled by this, as I believe that Harry Winks brings so much to this Tottenham team, including possession, drive, defensive cover, and killer passes.
