Report: Pochettino makes clear demand in order to return to Spurs

Journalist Matteo Moretto has written for Relevo that Mauricio Pochettino has informed Tottenham that he would only return to the club if Harry Kane stays.

Over the last few days, some outlets such as Sky Sports, have talked up the possibility of Kane remaining at Tottenham next season by claiming that the North London club have no intention of letting the striker leave irrespective of where they finish this season or whether he signs a new deal.

Moretto has now claimed that the England captain still remains at the top of Manchester United’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

The journalist revealed that he was made aware by an agent that the 29-year-old would prefer to stay in the Premier League and would thus consider a switch to Old Trafford.

He asserted that Tottenham are currently locked in talks with Kane over a new deal and that the next few weeks could prove ‘crucial’ in the player’s final decision.

Moretto added that Spurs’ decision on who to appoint as the next manager could have a big impact on the striker’s future.

He also explained that Kane has a ‘great relationship’ with Pochettino and that the Argentine’s first demand is that the centre-forward should stay if he is to return to Hotspur Way.

If Tottenham finish in the top four and if the club were to convince Pochettino to return, I believe that Kane will stay and sign a new deal.

However, it does not appear as if Fabio Paratici is particularly keen on the prospect of bringing the Argentine back to the club.
