Report: Pochettino makes two demands to Levy to seal Spurs return

According to a report from AS (as relayed by TEAMtalk), Mauricio Pochettino is demanding a long-term contract and control over transfers in order to re-sign for Tottenham.

Pochettino famously called for ‘a painful rebuild’ at Spurs just months before he was sacked by the club.

While Tottenham have begun the process of rebuilding their squad, there are many areas in which they are still in significant need of investment.

Over the last few days, Pochettino has emerged as Spurs’ number one target but some sources have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are reluctant to let the Argentine go.

AS now claim that the 49-year-old is ready to quit PSG in order to return to his former stomping ground as long as the North Londoners meet two conditions.

The former Spurs boss reportedly wants a contract of at least four years to sign on the dotted line. He is also said to be demanding greater powers in the transfer market than he currently has in Paris.

It is explained that if Tottenham cannot meet those demands, Pochettino will stay put at PSG, where he is thankful for the faith the club have shown in him despite not being fully satisfied.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans might think that it is a no-brainer for Levy to accept both the demands and get Pochettino back but it is fair to say that some of the Argentine’s signings in his first spell at the club (if they were indeed his recommendations rather than the recruitment team’s) have flattered to deceive.

However, it does not look like Levy has any option but to give in to Pochettino’s demands as there do not seem to be any other candidates who would be a better fit for the club.
