Report: Pochettino mentioned signing Spurs star in early talks with Nice

Media Foot have claimed that while having talks about potentially taking over as Nice manager, Mauricio Pochettino told the Ligue 1 goalkeeper that he would want them to re-sign Hugo Lloris.

Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, following 18 months in charge of the Ligue 1 club.

ESPN reported earlier this week that Nice are eyeing the former Tottenham manager as a potential replacement for Lucien Favre.

The report added that Farve could be sacked following the club’s poor start to the campaign and Pochettino is the number one choice of the Ligue 1 club’s hierarchy to replace the 64-year-old.

Media Foot have now revealed that Nice would not have any trouble meeting the Argentine’s salary demands and that have already begun discussions with the former Spurs man’s representatives.

The two parties are alleged to have talked about several issues, including potential recruitment for the future.

The report asserts that Lloris was ‘among the first names mentioned’ by Pochettino, who wishes to reunite with the experienced goalkeeper in the south of France.

It is asserted that the Tottenham captain ‘could be seduced’ by the idea of returning to his hometown club, where he began his career.

Lloris is contracted to Spurs until 2024 and I do not see the Lilywhites letting the goalkeeper leave before that.

In fact, I would not even be surprised if Tottenham offered the 35-year-old a contract extension, given that he is showing no signs of decline.

The Frenchman would also feel that he has some unfinished business at Spurs, particularly given the direction the club are moving in under Conte.
