Report: Pochettino plans to rebuild his defence around this player

A report from Football Insider claims that Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is planning to rebuild his defence around Davinson Sanchez.

This comes after Spurs have started the new season extremely poorly at the back, recording just three clean sheets in 14 matches, which included a penalty shootout loss to League Two side Colchester United.

Since joining in 2017, Sanchez has played 78 games for Tottenham, but has yet to nail down that first-choice position (Wikipedia).

The Colombian has always been slightly below Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the pecking order, but that could be about to change.

Sanchez has already clocked up nine appearances so far this season, all of them starts (Transfer Markt). This included an appearance in the starting XI away to Liverpool last weekend, where Sanchez played extremely well alongside Alderweireld.

Transfer Markt currently rate the 23-year-old’s transfer value at just under £50m, but Spurs fans will be hoping to see that rise if he does become a regular performer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I think it is time to test out a Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth partnership at the back. Spurs also have Japhet Tanganga and Cameron Carter-Vickers who could play a part next season.
