Report: Pochettino to make drastic changes after the international break

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is planning on making wholesale changes to the side when they resume Premier League and Champions League action after the international break.

The report claims that the Argentine has decided that he has to make drastic changes to the team in order to stop their recent slide.

It is revealed that Pochettino wants to begin by reshaping the defensive set up by building the back four around Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon.

While Foyth and Sessegnon have yet to feature this season for Tottenham due to respective injuries, Sanchez has not started in the Premier League since the 2-2 draw against Arsenal where he was asked to play in the unfamiliar role of right back.

The report also claims that the Tottenham manager is set to axe Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose due to their poor recent showings.

Finally, it is also suggested that the 47-year-old is set to hand a major role to summer signing Giovani Lo Celso after he returns from his hip injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that something had to change given how poor Spurs have been recently and perhaps axing the underperforming stars will send out a message to the rest of the squad. Pochettino actually has quite a few options at his disposal across the pitch and I believe it is time to give the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies and Juan Foyth a consistent run in the side.
