Report: Pochettino wants Eredivisie star to replace Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen looks no closer to signing a new contract with the club as we enter the final few games of the campaign.

The Dane’s current deal with the club runs only until the summer of 2020, and Spurs might be forced to sell the playmaker in the summer if they do not wish to risk letting him run his contract down and walking away from North London on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has been linked with several European heavyweights including the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona (Daily Mail).

According to a report on TEAMtalk, Mauricio Pochettino has identified Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech as the Dane’s replacement should he be sold in the summer.

The Moroccan has had an impressive season in which he has scored 19 goals and assisted 12 others so far.

He has been instrumental in Ajax’s fantastic Champions League campaign, and his performances have reportedly caught the eye of several clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City.

If Spurs are somehow able to land Ziyech, then it will certainly soften the blow of losing Eriksen.
