Report: Pochettino wants to reunite with Spurs star he is ‘close friends’ with in January

According to a report from Football Insider, Mauricio Pochettino could look to use his close personal relationship with Hugo Lloris to tempt the Frenchman to Paris Saint-Germain this month.

Lloris has been in fantastic form since returning from his injury at the start of last year, with Jose Mourinho even recently describing the Tottenham captain as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Reports have previously indicated that Pochettino could look to raid his former club for the Tottenham number one but it has been suggested that Spurs are determined to hold on the 33-year-old.

Football Insider now report that Lloris and Pochettino lunched with one another every day at Spurs and that the pair’s relationship was far closer than that of a player and a manager.

It is said that that the former Lyon man could be tempted by the prospect of a reunion with his ‘close friend’ Pochettino at PSG.

The report asserts that Tottenham will be in the market for a goalkeeper this month should the France number one move to Paris.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no chance that Tottenham would be willing to sell Lloris in January given how crucial the Frenchman is to the club. The 33-year-old is a model professional and is not the type of player to demand a transfer mid-season. However, the club might have little choice but to sell him in the summer if he is not willing to sign a new contract.
