Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Barcelona have chosen Ronald Koeman as their next manager and that an announcement from the Catalan giants is imminent.
Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was heavily linked with the job after he went back on his previous claims that he will not manage Barca due to his Espanyol connections (EL Pais).
AS claimed that the Argentine, who has been without work since parting ways with Spurs almost a year ago, was Barcelona’s plan B if former midfielder Xavi Hernandez was to reject the job.
The Evening Standard claimed that Pochettino will be walking into an extremely difficult situation if he takes the job, with the La Liga side likely to replace their manager again after the presidential elections scheduled for next year.
However, it now looks like Barca have decided to go for club legend Koeman, with Romano indicating that the Dutchman is set to leave his job as their national team manager to take over at the Camp Nou.

I suspect Barcelona wanted a temporary solution to replace Quique Setien, with the presidential elections scheduled for next summer. Pochettino probably rejected their approach as he knew it was not a long-term project, with it only being a matter of time before Xavi gets his opportunity.
