Report: Pochettino’s secret tactic that helped Tottenham beat Man City

Tottenham put up a phenomenal display on Tuesday night in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final which saw us beat the current Premier League holders, Manchester City.

Spurs dominated most of the match and despite Harry Kane’s injury blow early in the second half, the Lilywhites went on to win 1-0, thanks to Hueng Min-Son’s individual effort in 78th minute.

Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical masterclass overshadowed Pep Guardiola’s genius and left some fans wondering how that was achieved.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo, Tottenham’s powerful midfielder Moussa Sissoko might have just revealed the secret tactic.

The star midfielder explained how watching last year’s quarterfinal between Liverpool and Manchester City helped the team in defeating Guardiola’s men.

Sissoko reportedly revealed that Pochettino showed his squad clips of Liverpool’s double over City last season.

“We played with a lot of intensity, because they don’t like it too much when you tickle their ankles a bit.

“They conceded some chances and that is what we were looking at. It worked for us, so that is good.

“We have done what the manager wanted us to do and that is why we won the game,” Sissoko said.

Pochettino’s clever approach to the game definitely paid off. Tottenham will take a narrow advantage into the Etihad next Wednesday.
