Report: Portugal international ‘waiting for Tottenham’ to make approach

According to a report from Portuguese publication Record, Sergio Oliveira is hoping to complete a move to Tottenham this summer.

The central midfield area is reportedly one of the positions Spurs are looking to strengthen this summer, with question marks over the futures of both Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.

The club have been linked with the likes of Sheffield United’s Sander Berge and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, and Oliveira is now the latest name to be mooted as a target.

The 29-year-old has shone for Porto over the last two seasons and is coming off arguably the best campaign of his career, registering 13 goals in 31 league appearances and 5 in 8 in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

Record explain that Oliveira, who is currently with the Portugal squad at the European Championships, could be on his way out of Porto.

It is revealed that the central midfielder’s proposed move to Fiorentina crumbled after Gennaro Gattuso’s departure. Oliveira is now said to be waiting for Spurs to make an approach.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s nice to see that some players apparently still want to come to Spurs. If Tottenham could get Oliveira on a cheap £15m or less deal then it could be a decent signing this summer.
