The Athletic have now revealed that Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim and Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti are both in contention to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

Apart from the obvious names such as Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel (Daily Mail), reports have also suggested over recent weeks that Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi could be considered to replace Conte (Football Insider).

GiveMeSport suggested a couple of days ago that Steeve Cooper is expected to be considered by Spurs, given the stellar job he has done at Nottingham Forest.

It was The Athletic who revealed on Tuesday that two more Premier League managers in Thomas Frank and Marco Silva are also on Tottenham’s wishlist.

The same publication have now thrown two more names into the hat in the form of Amorim and Spalletti.

It is explained that Fabio Paratici has been tasked with compiling a list of potential replacements for Conte, with the Spurs managing director of football thought to be a big admirer of the Sporting Lisbon coach, as well as being a fan of the experienced Italian.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that Amorim and Spalletti are being considered for the job as both have done excellent jobs at Sporting and Napoli respectively.

However, I would be surprised if either is near the top of Paratici’s wishlist.

Amorim would be a risky appointment, given his lack of experience while one can make the case that Spalletti has been aided by the fact that Napoli have managed to assemble an outstanding squad, owing to some smart acquisitions over the last two years.
