Journalist claims Portuguese giants interested in late attempt to sign Spurs player

The Guardian’s Ed Aarons has revealed on social media that Porto are making a late attempt to sign Tottenham defender Danny Rose.

The left-back has not been part of the first-team picture at Spurs since returning from his loan spell at Newcastle, with Jose Mourinho admitting that he is free to leave.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed on his Youtube channel that the Lilywhites were having a difficult time trying to find a buyer for Rose and said that the club had not received any serious offers for him.

The Athletic (at 11.25 am on their live transfer blog) have claimed that the experienced defender is relaxed about his future and is open to revaluating his options in January or leaving on a free transfer next summer after running his contract down.

However, it now looks as though there is a chance that Rose could be gone before the transfer deadline, with Porto reportedly wanting to sign him as a replacement for Alex Telles, who is set to join Manchester United (Sky Sports).

Here’s what Aarons tweeted:

We will have to wait and see how this one plays out but I cannot see Rose agreeing to this deal, particularly given how late Porto’s approach has allegedly come. I think he will likely stay until January and will be hoping that a couple of Premier League clubs show interest in him.
