Report: Postecoglou has ‘explicitly requested’ that Spurs sign 18-year-old attacker

InterLive.it have become the latest outlet to report on Tottenham’s pursuit of Copenhagen starlet Roony Bardghji, revealing that Ange Postecoglou is driving the Premier League side’s interest in the player.

Bardghji is having a breakthrough season in the Danish capital, with the teenager having scored 11 goals across all competitions so far.

The versatile attacker, who can operate as a winger, a number nine and an attacking midfielder, has particularly caught the eye in the Champions League, with multiple outlets suggesting over the last week that Spurs are monitoring the youngster (90 min).

InterLive.it have now also referenced Tottenham’s interest in Bardghji while reporting on the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the player.

They say that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is set to make advances on the attacker, explaining that the Serie A club have a good relationship with the CAA base, who represent the Copenhagen star.

The report adds that Simone Inzaghi’s men face competition from the likes of Tottenham, Napoli and Juventus for Bardghji’s signature.

Expanding on Spurs’ stance for the 18-year-old, they say that the Lilywhites ‘could get serious’ about signing the attacker in January, having registered an interest in the player at the ‘explicit request of Ange Postecoglou’.

However, it is revealed that there are some concerns at the North London club over whether Bardghji has the required physical stature to succeed in the Premier League.

Finally, InterLive asserts that an offer of around €10m (£8.6m) is needed to convince Copenhagen to part ways with the Sweden Under-21 international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Spurs are seriously considering a move for Bardghji, I suspect Postecoglou and co view the 18-year-old as one for the future rather than as a player who would instantly strengthen their first team.

I would not be surprised if Tottenham are considering signing the teenager and loaning him back to Copenhagen, just like they did with Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr in the past.
