Report: Postecoglou may have big double injury boost for Man City clash

The Telegraph have revealed that both James Maddison and Manor Solomon could be in contention to face Manchester City on January 26.

While Ange Postecoglou is currently without Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr and Son Heung-min due to the AFCON and Asian Cup, he was boosted by the return of both of his first-choice centre-backs, Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven, for the clash against Manchester United.

It now appears like the Australian could welcome back two more of his injured stars in the form of Maddison and Solomon.

The England international has not featured since picking up an ankle injury in the clash against Chelsea at the start of November while the Israeli star has been out with a knee injury since September.

James Maddison is targeting a return against Man City

The Telegraph reveal that Maddison is hoping to start training with the group on Monday when the squad return to Hotspur Way following their winter break, with the attacking midfielder now in contention to play the FA Cup fourth-round game.

Postecoglou might also have another selection headache up front, with Solomon potentially set to battle it out with the likes of Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kuluseveski and new signing Timo Werner for a place in the starting eleven against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Spurs Web Opinion

Postecoglou has generally been quite conservative in his assessment of the recovery time of different players, with almost all of them returning ahead of schedule. My gut feeling is that we might see Maddison start the game against City rather than just come on as a late substitute.
