The Sun’s Alan Nixon has revealed on his Patreon that former Celtic coach Chris Davies, who is wanted by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, has been offered the chance to become Swansea City’s manager.

We covered a report from Record Sport recently that claimed Postecoglou wants Celtic coaches John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan but the Scottish giants are digging their heels in to keep the pair at the club.

The report claimed that if Spurs are not able to agree on compensation with the Bhoys hierarchy for the pair, the new Tottenham head coach might have to look elsewhere to build his backroom staff.

It was reported by The Telegraph that Postecoglou was thus assessing other options, including Davies.

This has now been backed up by Nixon, who claims that the Australian may make an approach for another former Celtic coach.

Postecoglou and Davies never crossed paths in Glasgow, with the 38-year-old working as Brendan Rodgers’ assistant at Parkhead before following the Northern Irishman to Leicester, eventually leaving when Rodgers was sacked back in April.

Postecoglou wants Chris Davies at Tottenham

It is now alleged that he might be handed an opportunity to return to coaching at Hotspur Way, with the new Spurs boss thought to want him as part of his staff.

However, it is explained that Davies has also been offered a chance to become head coach at Swansea City and would thus have to turn down that big opportunity to kickstart his management career in order to move to Tottenham.

Postecoglou might have not known Davies personally but it is possible that his coaches at Celtic, including Kennedy, might have recommended him to the Australian.

However, it seems unlikely that Davies would turn down the head coach role at Swansea to link up with the new Spurs head coach.
